Amaechi Files $300 Billion Lawsuit Against PDP

Amaechi Files $300 Billion Lawsuit Against PDP

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has filed a $300 billion suit against the PDP state chapter , its chairman, Felix Obuah, and two others.
Premium Times reports that the suit was filed at an Abuja High court over allegations made against him regarding foreign accounts ownership and embezzlement.
As a result, Amaechi is suing for N300 billion for “general damages done to him and defamation of his character, reputation and person.”
The report gives further insight into the allegations, stating:
The PDP had in a statement in August alleged that Amaechi stole $757million (N80 billion) of Rivers State public funds and stashed them away in an account in his name in Bancorp Bank in Minnesota, United States of America.
It also alleged that the former governor embezzled millions of dollars of Rivers State money and stashed the money in other foreign accounts in his name, including in a bank in Switzerland.
The party said Amaechi’s foreign accounts were revealed and blown open by Christiane Amanpour of America’s CNN and alleged that Bancorp Bank wrote President Muhammadu Buhari intimating him that part of the funds was to be used to purchase a residence for the former governor in the US and that it (Bancorp Bank) planned to return the stolen funds to Nigeria.

Exploring Beautiful Johannesburg at Joy of Jazz Festival, AMAA, City Tours & More! Get the Scoop on Mercy Ajisafe’s Fun Trip to South Africa

Exploring Beautiful Johannesburg at Joy of Jazz Festival, AMAA, City Tours & More! Get the Scoop on Mercy Ajisafe’s Fun Trip to South Africa

Hola beautiful BellaNaijarians, I’m super excited and can hardly sit still because… tonight, I’ll be flying to South Africa courtesy of South African Tourism. *whoop whoop*
My name is Mercy Ajisafe, and I’m an actress and media personality. The good people at BellaNaija have ever so graciously invited me to represent the biggest lifestyle blog in Africa, as I attend some of the biggest events in African Entertainment. And of course, I had no choice but to politely say “YES PLEASE”!!!
I’ll be taking a South African Airways flight into Johannesburg, and staying at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton. A swift Google search revealed it to be an elegant, high-end hotel located in Sandton’s financial district.
Maslow
Who knows? I might just meet a single, 6’6, gorgeous Krav Maga expert who’s a hedge fund manager, fluent in 6 languages including Mandarin with a penchant for literature and 6ft Yoruba women that talk entirely way too much. What? Anything is possible ooo, it all begins with a thought!
I’m also looking forward to staying at the Boardwalk hotel, Convention Centre & Spa in Port Elizabeth. The Spa is meant to be top notch, and I have a slew of treatments booked. *dances Shoki*
spa
Now guys, I’m gonna tell you a secret and you have to promise not to tell anyone, ok? One of the major reasons I’m super excited is because, *whispers* I have NEVER been to South Africa. I was actually meant to go the MAMAs earlier on this year, but lo and behold, I was forced to cancel my trip due to work commitments. Another reason I’m excited is of course, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival.
The Joy of Jazz is South Africa’s oldest jazz festival. The event takes place in Johannesburg, Africa’s greatest city, a bold and pulsating metropolis. The 2015 edition will hold from 24 – 26 September at the Sandton Convention Centre. I’ve always been a lover of Jazz, but after hosting Satchmo’s jazz festival earlier this year, I became enamored with Jazz music. The sound, the rhythm, the soul… there’s just nothing like it.
With headliners such as Peabo Bryson, Hugh Masekela, Cecile Mclorin Salvantand Marcus Miller. It’s bound to be absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to hear Dee Alexander serenade us with her velvety vocals. At this point, my excitement is literally palpable.

Dee Alexander
In addition to that, I’ll be flying into the beautiful Port Elizabeth to attend theAfrican Movie Academy Awards, popularly referred to as AMAA.
The AMAAs was founded by Peace Anyiam Osigwe in 2005 and is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards shows held in Africa. I’m especially excited as the African movie industry is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
But it’s all not showbiz darling, oh no. I’ll be exploring the beautiful city of Johannesburg. Activities planned include a hot balloon ride, a trip to the elephant sanctuary and the lion park.
Lion Park
I’ll also be taking the official Johannesburg City Tour and tour of Soweto.
Now as the original ‘Don Foodie’, one of the things I’m most looking forward to is sampling some of the gastronomical delights that SA has become known for. For me, one of the reasons i love to travel is because it gives you an opportunity to expand your palette. I tend to pick vacation spots based on who’s local cuisine I’ve been fantasizing about trying the most, (don’t judge me, I know I can’t be alone). They have a plethora of highly rated restaurants, and I intend to consume as much as their delicious cuisine as humanly possible. Globally renowned chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey cannot seem to sing the praises of the South Africa’s dining establishments enough. I am so excited about the food, that i am literally salivating as we speak. Yummmmm
When I get to Port Elizabeth, not only will be I be attending AMAA. I’ll also be doing a spot of whale watching and SKY DIVING! Wait did you guys read that? I said, I’m going sky diving *dances shokis again* the adrenaline junkie in me is literally jumping up and down with glee in anticipation.
So sit back and relax, allow me to whisk you away on a virtual trip as #NigeriaMeetsSouthAfrica follow my escapades onInstagram:@bellanaijaonline | Twitter: @bellanaija | Facebook: bellanaija
…and don’t forget to tell a friend, to tell a friend, to tell a friend that it’s time for #BNinSouthAfrica2015 #SBJOJ

Ado-Ekiti Wife Seeks Dissolution of 20 Year Marriage Over Husband’s Unemployment

Ado-Ekiti Wife Seeks Dissolution of 20 Year Marriage Over Husband’s Unemployment

A 42-year-old wife, Joke, has urged an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve her 20-year-old marriage to her husband, Akintade for alleged frequent fighting and his unwillingness to work.
Joke, on Tuesday also alleged lack of care for her and the children as well as lack of rest of mind.
She told the court that they fight almost on daily basis because she advised her husband to get a job.
The mother of five said that her husband did not pay the children school fees or provide foodstuff in the house because of his joblessness.
“I have been responsible for the payment of the children school fees, clothing them and provide food in the house,’’ she said.
The petitioner said there was a day the husband threatened to kill her with cutlass in the presence of his mother-in-law.
Joke told the court that their landlord sent them out and her husband told her to secure another apartment where she could live with the children.
She said that her husband went to stay in his parent house, adding that whenever he comes to visit them, he always looked for trouble.
The petitioner said that the matter was reported to the husband’s aged mother and junior brother.
“But they told me that we should go and resolve our matter, that they are fed up with his behavior,’’ she alleged.
Joke said that her husband recently secured a security guard job, noting that he spends his salary on drinking without consideration for her and the children.
She, therefore, urged the court to award her the custody of her 5 children.
The respondent was absent in spite of repeated summons by the court.
The President of the court, Ogunsemi Joseph, after hearing from the petitioner adjourned the case to Oct. 5, for judgment.

Nigerian Woman On Holiday In USA, Jennifer Akudihor Stole $2000 Goods In Macys Store - Arrested

Nigerian Woman On Holiday In USA, Jennifer Akudihor Stole $2000 Goods In Macys Store - Arrested

A Nigerian woman on vacation in the US has been charged with felony theft after she stole over 66 items at about $2000 worth of clothes and accessories from a Macy’s store in Overland, Kansas. The woman, identified as Jennifer Akudihor, was on vacation from Nigeria and was shopping at the store shortly before she was busted. She was very apologetic during her first court appearance, and officers said she acted the same way when she was detained Tuesday afternoon. According to a report from KMBC

Quote
“The officer in the report said that she was very apologetic and remorseful, and that does go a long way, and he put that in the report, so I think it does help in this situation,” said Sgt. Gary Mason of the Overland Park Police Department. “Everybody has a story. There’s always a lot of reasons why people do this, and it’s not for us to decide. It’s up to the courts and the judge to look at her case.”

Because the value of the items was over $2000, the case becomes a significant felony case. It is unclear on why she stole the items, whether it was out of need for her children or just because she thought she would get away with it.
